These days, building a website isn’t as daunting as it used to be. Many website platforms understand the lack of coding knowledge, time, and resources people have and have responded with easy-to-use, affordable tools. Here’s a list of five platforms we’ve used and recommend for everyone, whether you’re a beginner or a wizard of the web.
Squarespace
Squarespace is very easy to use out of the box. Each of their templates is beautiful and optimized for mobile which is essential for best SEO practices. They allow quite a bit of customization for someone with zero coding knowledge. This is not a drag-and-drop type interface though for building your site, but is still pretty intuitive. The Squarespace community is great and offers a lot of support. Their customer service is amazing as well and responds quickly to questions.
Wix
Wix has really upped their game over the past few years and has made their platform very easy to use. They provide a drag-and-drop style interface for easy building on the fly. You can also customize just about anything on this platform. They provide beautiful templates for those that want something less custom or just want a great place to start from. Wix also comes SEO friendly to help you instantly be searchable.
B12
This is truly an innovative way to have a website built for you in minutes. They call themselves a human-assisted AI website builder. The process begins with an intake survey asking you basic information about your business before presenting you with a website that looks pretty customized, including photos and text. From there, you can customize it with a color scheme, layout options, etc. This really is the fastest way to have a website up and running.
WordPress
WordPress has been around for what seems like forever. They are tried and true and a good majority of marketing sites across the web are built on WordPress. Their software is free to start with options to pay for hosting and a variety of templates. One of the pros to WordPress is that there is a huge community of devs who know how to build on it. That just means the more custom you want your site, the better chance there is that someone knows how to help customize it.
Webflow
We can’t praise Webflow enough for how awesome it is. Far and away, Webflow is the most powerful, easy-to-use web platform there is. It does take some time to become proficient in it, but the dividends for learning how to use it outweigh the other platforms. Their tutorials are the absolute best out there and their community is incredibly helpful. We’ve never had a question that we haven’t gotten an answer to while building on this platform. Webflow allows the most custom website with the least amount of developer help. They describe themselves as a visual coding platform, so actually knowing how to write code or what it looks like is irrelevant.
All of these website builders are great for different reasons. It depends on what you want. If you want an out-of-the-box solution, give Squarespace, Wix, or B12 a try. If you want something equipped to handle something more custom, give WordPress or Webflow a try.
